Two Basic Ways to Stage
1. DIY Do-it-yourself
2. Hire a Professional Home Stager
Professional Home Stagers
Stagers have various services that they offer. Fees are based on what service or options you wish. Some stagers
have a flat fee based on the square footage of the home or the number of rooms. Others may charge by the hour or
by other criteria. Who pays the cost of a Professional Home Stager?
Many will do the following type plans or a variation of them:
- Preliminary visit to see your home and explain their services. Usually free. Half-hour to an hour.
- Verbal consultation only; recommendations on what to do. Then you do the work yourself. You could say a do-it-
yourself plan.
- Written staging plan (verses a verbal) where they give a written plan or guideline, and you do the staging / work
yourself.
- Partial home staging plan. The stager stages only specific rooms or areas of the home.
- Entire home staging plan. The stager will completely stage your home; doing the work themselves.
- Vacant home staging services - where furniture and accessories are furnished.
- Vacant home with furniture and accessories from the stager; plus live in people, from the stagers organization
living in it.
- Stagers may have fees for the furnishing accessories or furniture. Rental fees.
Call a local stager and discuss what they offer and what they charge. You may be pleasantly surprised by the many
ways they can assist you. To find a local home stager ask your agent or go to Stagers Yellow Pages.com
The cost of staging is like the cost of having diner. If you prepare the diner at
home and shop wisely for your groceries, you can have a wonderful diner at very
little cost. We will call this the DIY method.
The other choice is to eat out. The cost will depend on your choice of restaurants
and meals. Staging likewise can vary in cost. However, there is one thing for sure,
not staging will cost you much, much more than if you do stage your home.
